Cascais is the most cosmopolitan Portuguese small town but still keeps the charm and contrasts that made it famous. Seaside resort for princes and harbour for fishermen, it has the sea at its feet and beautiful buildings that in the begining of the 20th century served as holiday retreats for the wealthiest
bourgeoisie of Lisboa. But it is at Avenida Valbom, that one
can admire the most elegant of them all: the Pergola House. Its exuberant flowery, beautiful garden attracts all the attentions. People say that if the tourists paid an Euro for every picture taken, the owners would probably be the wealthiest in Cascais.
