Stayed March 2015 We stayed the first 3 nights of our vacation at this House. This home is beautiful and in a great location. It's situated off the main road between busy Jamaican style beach towns, remote pristine beaches, and Gandoca Manzanillo National Wildlife Refuge. Although you can't see the beach from the house you can hear it at all times. There's an open air restaurant/bar across the street that opens at 7am playing reggae music, and was a really amazing way to wake up. The yard and landscaping at Ocean's Edge Beach House is a tropical paradise, and the house is breezy and has an amazing upstairs porch with hammock. We rented bikes ($6/day) and visited Peurto Viejo. There we were able to eat dinner on the beach and buy fresh fish and lobsters from the fishermen in the harbor. We also were able to ride down to Manzanillo and snorkel for a day. There's a little grocery store within walking distance and the restaurant stays open until 10pm. I didn't know what to expect, but truly couldn't have asked for better. HIGHLY recommend visiting Punta Uva, and I can't wait to return.

stayed March 2015 Our group was two couples that stayed here for two weeks in March. We were pleased with the house. This is our third house rental in Costa Rica. We found it to be spacious and clean. We appreciated the housekeeping service and supply of fresh towels and water. The kitchen and house are outfitted in a typical way for a beach rental house. The blender and coffee maker worked well. Wifi and a phone would have improved the amenities but we managed without them. This is the Caribbean so expect some rain, damp and bring bug spray (they were not too bad) for the evenings and jungle walks. The location is spectacular in lovely, lovely Punta Uva. We enjoyed the easy access to both the beaches and the viewpoint walk. You can surf, kayak and swim at the river beach and snorkel at the beach right in front of the house. You can rent kayaks and surf boards at Punta Uva River beach. Playa Chiquita and Playa Grande are also within an easy walk. The beaches were quiet during the week and busier on the weekends but even then, there was plenty of room for everyone. The bar across the road was fairly quiet and shut down quite early. The wildlife viewing at the house and neighbourhood was incredible. We saw a large variety of colourful birds in the garden and around the area including trogons, parrots and toucans. We saw sloths and howlers near the beach every day. All sorts of butterflies including the blue morpho visited the garden. We found Punta Uva to be a great location to visit the area by bicycle and by car. We loved Manzanillo with the wildlife refuge (guided hike with Tino was a highlight) and the beach only ten minutes away by car. There are great places to eat and drink within walking and biking distance from the house. Alice’s ice cream, Chocoart and Selvin’s are all wonderful. There is a corner store 5 minutes down the road on foot. A car is recommended if you wish to visit Puerto Viejo, Cahuita and Bribri. We recommend the National Park at Cahuita, the Bribri Chocolate and Waterfall tour and the following restaurants in Puerto Viejo : Como en mi casa Art Cafe, Carribeans Chocolate Tasting Lounge, Bread and Chocolate, Soda Ghetto Girl One Love, Soda Mirna and Cafe Rico. This Punta Uva Beach House is a great location for a group wishing a beach vacation and a quiet area to stay and enjoy nature.
